Prince Albert II of Monaco, in the presence of Mr. Bernard Ruiz-Picasso, discovered the exhibition «Pablo Picasso and Antiquity».

This exhibition, organised by the Fundacion Almine y Bernard Ruiz-Picasso (FABA) and curated by Francesca Ferrari, with a scenography by Cécile Degos, is part of the international collaboration «Celebration Picasso 1973-2023» marking the 50thth anniversary of Pablo Picasso's death.

The Prince was able to admire a selection of 25 works from the FABA collection, as well as a painting from the Nahmad Collection.

«These works recount my grandfather's passion for Antiquity, for classicism. They are quite touching: sometimes it's a man looking at a woman, a mother with her child... The exhibition also highlights my grandfather's attachment to his Mediterranean roots; he greatly appreciated Monaco, and this region of the south of France where he lived,» explains Mr. Bernard Ruiz-Picasso.

« Pablo Picasso and Antiquity » therefore offers a stage for Picasso's thinking on the survival, legibility and malleability of ancient artefacts beyond the upheavals of history. The exhibition explores themes of ruin and decline but also those of resilience and renewal.

Prince Albert II of Monaco with Mr Bernard Ruiz-Picasso and his wife, Almine, Ms Francesca Ferrari, Exhibition Curator.

Photo credit: Axel Bastello / Prince's Palace

Le 15 septembre dernier, S.A.S le Prince Albert II de Monaco découvrait, en présence de M.
